Matchday 5

Han Dao Wan slump to their first defeat while IFFC go marching on.

Group 1

Han Dao Wan 1 - Friends FC 5

With HDW already qualified for the ACV SFL semi-final, it was up to Friends to earn some bonus points to seal second place. They started well with a fine goal from La but HDW equalized shortly after and had a spell of pressure where they missed several clear cut chances to take the lead. Friends then hit a purple patch towards the end of the half and scored three unanswered goals to ensure a bonus point. In the second half Friends scored again but failed to get a second which would have seen them top the group. There is still the mathematical possibility that ACAS or Han Dom Gai could sneak second place in the remaining game next week, but it looks as though Friends have done enough to secure second place with six points.

Group 2

Bing Bare 1 IFFC 2

In the match to decide first and second place in the group, with both sides equal on points and goal difference after two games, IFFC scored with their first attack of the game. For the first ten minutes Bing Bare failed to get into the game and IFFC created several chances to extend their lead. Bing Bare then turned the tables and started to play some good football only for poor finishing and some fine reflex saves from Jeremy in the IFFC goal to deny them. Eventually Bing Bare pressure lead to a deserved equalizer and with the game evenly balanced both sides hit the woodwork before half time. In the second half IFFC took the lead and then some lenient refereeing caused the match to become heated with both sides guilty of dangerous play. The teams continued to create chances but failed to add to the score and sees IFFC top of the group and likely to play Friends in the semi-final while Bing Bare will face Han Dao Wan in another "battle of the restaurants".
