The Hash House Harriers (abbreviated to HHH, H3, or referred to simply as Hashing) is an international group of non-competitive running clubs with an emphasis on a good social event.
Hashing originated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in December 1938. Since then it has spread across the world to include over 250,000 active hashers in over 2,000 clubs.

Vientiane has two very active hashes.

The hash meet at a predesignated place and time, runs/walks for an hour or more, then has a social drinking and eating session. Hashers range in age from 4 yrs to 75+ yrs, foreigners and Laos, male and female, very fit and extremely unfit people.

The running/walking trail is set so that the fittest of people can have a hard run for an hour or more while the less fit can walk it at a (bit more than) leisurely rate. (Hey, you are supposed to get some exercise).
